In the sense of the original literature and original thought system, Confucian traditional concepts are in the axial age and have striking conservatism characteristics; in the sense of the emergence of intellectual history, they have a sufficiently long and uninterrupted time span; The order of the people’s sentiments also has a large enough influence. However, the problem with the traditional Confucian conceptual order is that it lacks an inherent self-correcting ability, and lacks a tension of renewal and expansion, so that the behavior of people in the Confucian traditional conceptual order always repeats certain errors in the theory of human nature and epistemology. This constitutes an “internal trap of ideas”.
Conservatism is not enough for the epistemological individual, it is our listening and understanding of the ultimate word of God that should be thought deeply, thus constituting the explicit object of conservatism. Conservatism is not the preservation of liberty, much less of private property, but of the explicit system of the Word of God in the biblical tradition.
In the sense of the original document and the original thought system, the traditional concept of the Bible is before the Axial Age. The Bible is the oldest document of mankind, and the Bible is the total record of God’s word system, so it has striking conservatism characteristics. That is, the conservatism we are talking about has intellectual history significance only after we have finished reading and understanding the words of the Bible. This is a premise that, in the sense of the emergence of intellectual history, the biblical tradition, because of the primary driving force of the Word of God, has a sufficiently long and uninterrupted time span to cover all past, present and future times, and to The current public order has enough influence, and therefore has a self-correcting ability in the sense of truth.
It must be possible to have a certain ability to analyze and criticize the inherent traps of the Confucian tradition of conceptual order. Such criticism is not a negation of the Confucian tradition, but a necessary update and expansion.
